Hi, here are the highlights from the current Desert Parks Bulletin issued today. As a general note most outback tracks are now open however, there are a few that are still closed due to recent rain.

Lake Eyre National Park – Kati Thanda – The lake has a small amount of water after good local rain but it is almost all gone.  The best way to see the enormity of Lake Eyre is from the air.
Halligan Bay Track – Open to 4WD
Level Post Bay Track – Open to 4WD
Innamincka Regional Reserve and Coongie Lakes National ParkNote: Be aware that entry to Innamincka Regional Reserve requires a day/camping permit or a Desert Parks Pass that must be displayed on the vehicle windscreen.
Coongie Track – Open to 4WD. Care to be taken on the northern half.
Walkers Crossing Track – Open to 4WD. Caution for mining vehicle activity.
15 Mile Track and Access to Cooper Creek – Open to 4WD.  Caution along track access to sites due to washouts and holes which have been flagged, especially Policemans and Minkie.
Cullyamurra Waterhole – Open to 4WD.  Caution at washouts and deep guttering.

Innamincka And Coongie Lakes Map – $12.95


Burke’s Grave – Open to 4WD.
Old Strzelecki Track (on Innamincka Regional Reserve only) – Open to 4WD.
Bore Track North – Open to 4WD. Caution at washouts.
Bore Track South – Closed. No visitor access across Bollards Lagoon station.
Witjira National Park and the Simpson Desert Reserves – Advance Notice – the Dalhousie Main Springs may be closed to swimmers from May 18-29. This is due to replacement of the main spring steps by the Friends of the Simpson Desert Reserves and DEWNR. An alternative access/exit is being investigated. Camping is restricted to Dalhousie Springs, 3 O’clock Creek and Purni Bore.
Pedirka Public Access Route – Closed due to rain damage. Access to and exit from Dalhousie will be via Mt Dare or Bloods Creek.
Witjira National Park – Open to 4WD. Recent rain has created severe washouts in certain sections of the tracks. The Dalhousie Ruins/Pedirka track is closed at the Mt Dare/Dalhousie turn off.


Simpson Desert – Open to 4WD. Use extra caution as sand dunes will be soft after the summer closure, and may have blow outs from summer winds.
Warburton Crossing – Open to 4WD.  Caution at river crossing.
Tallaringa Conservation Park – Anne Beadell Highway – The Department of Defence has announced future closures of the Anne Beadell Highway on 20 July – 2 August 2015, 2 – 29 November 2015, 29 February – 13 March 2016, and 16 – 29 May 2016.
