The Cleland Wildlife Park is a part of the larger Cleland Conservation Park and is located in South Australia, about 22 km from the Adelaide City Centre. The wildlife park is an icon in itself, and is a popular tourist destination among international travellers. Guided tours are available at the park, while adventurous tourists can also explore the park at night.

Here are a few ways to explore the park during your trip to Adelaide

Waterfall Gully

The Waterfall Gully is home to the park’s largest waterfall, which can be reached on foot by following a hiking trail from the car park located at the Waterfall Gully road. Maps and markers are available to help visitors locate this area with ease.

There is no public transport available to for the Waterfall Gully however Bus 142 will bring you within a few kilometres and car parking is limited, so it could be a long hike if you are parked at the Conservation Park.

Mount Lofty Summit

From the Waterfall Gully, visitors can follow a walking trail to the Mount Lofty Summit. It is a challenging hike, and should be attempted only if you are fit enough.

The Summit, at 710 metres above sea level, provides spectacular views over Adelaide and across of the Gulf St Vincent and is located approximately 2400 feet above sea level. Public transportation is available to reach the summit from Adelaide via Crafers. The conservation park and car parking is also available if you don’t want to take the walking trail.

Animal Sightings at the Cleland Wildlife Park

Cleland Wildlife Park is home to several species including koalas, kangaroos, and emus. The park is also home to several endangered species, which are protected at the park. Visitors can meet the koalas and reptiles during guided tours.

The Night Walks are a definite must to do on any thrill seeker’s list and are a great way to explore the nocturnal wildlife, not to mention seeing a beautiful sunset!
